Getting started
What is Glassy?
Glassy replaces your browser's new tab page with a customisable dashboard — wallpapers, clock, to-dos, notes, quick links, a Pomodoro timer, focus tools and more. Everything is optional: hide any widget you don't want from Settings → Widgets.
How do I install it?
Install from the Chrome Web Store. Once installed, every new tab you open shows Glassy. It works in Chrome, Edge, Brave and other Chromium browsers.
How do I get my old new tab page back?
Remove or disable the extension from your browser's extensions page (chrome://extensions). Chrome restores its default new tab immediately. Your Glassy data stays on your device unless you also clear site data.
Do I need an account?
No. Glassy works fully without signing in — every free feature is available straight away. An account is only needed for Glassy Pro, which uses it to sync your data across devices.
Glassy Pro
What do I get with Pro?
Cloud sync and backup across devices, unlimited quick links and blocked sites, the full wallpaper pack library, subtasks, due dates, reminders and repeats on to-dos, weekly and monthly focus reports with PDF export, unlimited quote rerolls, and more saved tab sessions. Free stays fully usable — Pro removes caps and adds sync.
How much does Pro cost?
Pricing is shown in full on the pricing page, and the exact amount you'll pay is confirmed at checkout before you're charged. Prices vary by country, so the amount you see may be lower than the US figure. Both a monthly and a yearly plan are available, and yearly works out cheaper per month.
What are the free plan's limits?
6 quick links, 5 blocked sites, 3 saved tab sessions, and 1 extra quote reroll per day. Notes, to-dos, wallpapers, the timer and focus tools are unlimited on free — they just don't sync between devices.
Can I use Pro on more than one device?
Yes. Sign in with the same account on each device and your data syncs between them.
Is there a lifetime plan?
Not currently. Monthly and yearly are the available options.
Billing
How do I pay?
Payments are handled by Paddle, our payment provider and Merchant of Record. Cards, PayPal and other regional methods are supported depending on your country. We never see or store your card details.
How do I cancel?
Settings → Account → Manage subscription, which opens your Paddle billing page. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Glassy offers a 14-day refund on Pro purchases — if you're not happy, request a full refund within 14 days of your purchase, no questions asked. Renewals are generally non-refundable, but get in touch if you forgot to cancel before a renewal date.
I paid but Pro isn't showing
Open Settings while signed in — Glassy rechecks your subscription each time the panel opens. If it still shows Free after a minute, sign out and back in. If that doesn't work, send us a report with the email you paid with.
Can I switch between monthly and yearly?
Yes, from the same Paddle billing page used for cancelling.
Privacy and data
What data do you collect?
Your notes, to-dos, links and settings stay on your device unless you're a Pro subscriber with sync enabled, in which case they're stored in your account so they reach your other devices. We don't sell data or use it for advertising.
Can Glassy see my browsing history?
No. Glassy asks only for the permissions its features need, and several of them (tab management, site blocking) are optional — the browser prompts you before granting them, and the feature simply stays off if you decline.
Does Glassy track which websites I visit?
Only if you switch it on. Productivity stats record your focus time and tasks automatically, but time-per-website tracking is off by default and asks for permission separately. Only the site name is kept (for example youtube.com), never the page address, and none of it leaves your device — stats don't sync. You can delete all of it in one click from Settings → Productivity stats.
Where is my data stored?
Free: locally in your browser's storage only. Pro: also in our cloud (Supabase) so it can sync. Wallpapers you upload on free stay in your browser's IndexedDB and are never uploaded.
How do I delete my data?
Uninstalling removes local data. For a Pro account, contact us and we'll delete your cloud data. Export a backup first if you want to keep it — Settings → About → Export Backup.
Does Glassy work offline?
Yes. Wallpapers are cached after first load, and your notes and to-dos are local. Only sync, weather and quote refreshes need a connection.
Troubleshooting
My wallpaper won't load, or is slow
Wallpapers download before being applied, so on a slow connection you'll see a spinner and a "slow connection" note after a few seconds. Once downloaded, a wallpaper is cached and loads instantly. If one never loads, try another to rule out a broken source.
Sync isn't working
Check you're signed in and Pro is active (Settings → Account). Sync runs when the extension loads and periodically after. If a device looks stale, open Settings there to trigger a fresh check.
A site is still blocked after I turned Site Blocker off
Blocking rules are rebuilt when you change the setting, so this usually clears within a moment — try reloading the tab. If Site Blocker is off and a site still redirects, restart the browser. Blocking is designed to fail open, so if anything goes wrong the rules are removed rather than left in place.
My data disappeared
Most often this is browser data being cleared, or a different browser profile. If you're on Pro, sign in and your data restores from the cloud. On free, restore an exported backup if you have one.
I lost data and I'm on free. Can you recover it?
Unfortunately not. Free data lives only in your browser and never reaches us, so there's nothing on our side to restore from. This is the main reason to export a backup periodically, or to use Pro's sync.
How do I report a bug?
Settings → About → Feedback/Report Issues, or use the feedback form on this site. You can attach a screenshot or recording. Your app version, browser and OS are attached automatically so we can reproduce the problem.
Can I request a feature?
Yes, through the same form — pick "Feature Idea".
